Heat Recovery Systems Now Available from Airtherm Engineering Ltd

Heat Recovery systems are playing a increasingly important role in modern building design. An effective building ventilation solution has become critical as a result of increased levels of insulation and air tightness in commercial buildings. Factors such as ever increasing energy costs, modern construction methods and building regulations have ultimately led to poor indoor climates that can cause health problems for occupants and damaging long term effects to the fabric of a building.

Our Duplexvent commercial heat recovery units are designed to save your business energy and improve the indoor air quality. These units provide ventilation and heat recovery (for commercial and industrial areas) by using polypropylene exchangers which recover heat from the transfer of warm air to cold air via exchangers with high conductivity and performance.

Benefits of Heat Recovery
  • Saves energy by reducing heating costs
  • Extracts airborne pollutants that can cause allergies and asthma
  • Constantly refreshes the internal atmosphere
  • Removes condensation and humidity
  • Supplies warmed, filtered air to living and working spaces
  • Up to 94% heat recovery
  • SAP Appendix Q eligible models
  • Helps reduce a buildings carbon footprint
  • Meets building regulations, Approved document F, April 2010 (MVHR

Technology
Heat recovery technology works by preheating incoming cool supply air by warming it with the outgoing exhaust air. In this way exhausted air transfers most of its heat to the supply air in a highly efficient heat recovery exchanger before being exhausted (at no time do the airstreams mix).

In Practice
Stale air, contaminated with humidity, toxins and smells is extracted via outlet grilles from the kitchen, bathroom and toilet areas. These outlet grilles allow a constant or demand oriented air flow volume to be extracted.

BREEAM (BRE Environmental Assessment Method) Our heat recovery units help buildings to be assessed for the BREEAM standard (BRE Environmental Assessment Method) - the leading and most widely used environmental assessment method for new buildings.

Case Study - Coleg Cymunedol School, Bridgend

Airtherm Engineering's track record of successful and efficient projects was demonstrated by the recent installation of two wall mounted 'Canvent' kitchen canopy systems at Coleg Cymunedol School in Bridgend, Wales.

The project involved the successful liaising between ourselves, the consultant, CKS, and the contractor, Swan Enviro Ltd.

The complete installation took just two days from attending site to completion. The canopies were installed using a special hilti type fixing, 'S' drilled into the Bison precast hollow ceiling and followed by rod and channel.

Canopy Sizes:
1 x 8400 x 1500 wall Canopy
1 x 6400 x 1500 wall canopy

Consultant: CKS

Client: Swan Enviro Ltd

Sector: Education

Products: CanVent System

Equipment: Cooking Equipment

Application: Extract Canopy System

More about our Canopy Product Range:

Our product range extends from simple condense canopies, extract only, island or wall mounted canopies, through to our air injection island systems allowing both input and extract. If required, the input air can be pre-heated for additional internal staff comfort during the cold winter months.

All products can be configured to suit each individual application.

Manufacture:
All canopies are manufactured from 304 (En 1.4301) or 316 (En 1.4401) stainless steel where specified and are suitably braced to prevent product distortion. All joints are welded and polished.

Our Canopies are cut, punched and folded into sub sections and factory assembled by means of computer controlled seam welds, and non-visible mechanical fixings. Systems are manufactured to the strict guidelines of DW/172, British Standards and conform to HSE for commercial kitchen ventilation. Wall mounted or island canopies can be manufactured to meet almost any dimension but typically 1000mm to 8000mm long. The system ductwork is manufactured and installed to incorporate cleaning and maintenance access doors to fully comply with DW/144 & TR/19 standards.

Canopy Lighting:

The units are designed and manufactured to deal with a wide ranging and varied commercial application, and can deal with humidity, condense rich, as well as hot and greasy environments. These units are normally recessed into the canopy ceiling providing easy cleaning and maintenance of the unit exterior. This also helps to greatly reduce the build-up of grease and other contaminates usually associated with the commercial kitchen environment.

Recessed Incandescent Units:
• Approved for use in commercial kitchen applications
• Meet with guidelines for DW172 & HSE Guidelines
• Satin finished stainless steel matching faceplates for matching hood interiors
• Tempered prismatic glass diffusers
